# Contact

> A person associated with entities

A contact is a person in your organization's directory, with a `name` and
`email`. Contacts are associated with [entities](https://docs.nova.net/types/entity.md), e.g. an
investor's accountant or the trustee of a trust.

Create a contact on its own with `POST /v1/contacts`, or attach contacts to an
entity with `POST /v1/entities/{ent_id}/contacts`.

A [distribution payment](https://docs.nova.net/types/distribution-payment.md) lists the contacts to
notify about it under `notifications`. Each is also associated with the
payment's entity.
