# FinancialAccount

> An account a vehicle holds at a partner bank

A financial account belongs to one vehicle (`veh_`) and holds money at a
partner bank. Its entries are listed as
[transactions](https://docs.nova.net/types/transaction.md).

## Type

| `type` | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `depository` | Holds cash |
| `brokerage` | Holds treasury investments, such as a money market fund. Its balances include the invested position as well as cash |

## Balance

All amounts are integers in the smallest currency unit, e.g. cents.

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `total` | Ledger balance plus outgoing wires and ACH pushes the bank has not debited yet |
| `available` | `total` minus pending debits, plus pending credits |
| `pending_debit` | Outgoing payments and holds that have not settled |
| `pending_credit` | Incoming transfers that have not settled |
| `total_end_of_last_month` | `total` at the end of last month |

### Reconciling with transactions

Each transaction's `balance` is the bank's running ledger balance after that
entry. `total` can be higher than the newest transaction's `balance` while
outgoing payments are pending at the bank; the two match again once they
settle.
