# List

> How list endpoints page through results

Every list endpoint returns the same envelope:

```json theme={null}
{
  "object": "list",
  "data": [],
  "next_page_url": "/v1/financial_accounts?page=page_5dr8SFDbv7rZ2aj4Qm9XcLpT2wHk&limit=10",
  "previous_page_url": null
}
```

## Paging

Follow `next_page_url` until it is `null` to read every page. Follow
`previous_page_url` to go back. Both URLs carry your `limit`, sort and filters,
so use them as-is.

| Parameter | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `limit` | Maximum number of items per page. Defaults to `10`, at most `100` |
| `page` | Cursor from `next_page_url`. Returns the items after it |
| `page_before` | Cursor from `previous_page_url`. Returns the items before it |
| `id` | Return only these IDs, in one page. Repeat for each ID, at most `100` |

> [!NOTE]
>
> [Transactions](https://docs.nova.net/types/transaction.md) default to `100` items per page, up to
> `1000`.

`page` and `page_before` can't be combined, and `id` can't be combined with
`page`, `page_before` or `limit`.

## Cursors

`page_` cursors are opaque. Don't build or edit them; only pass back a cursor
from a response, to the same list it came from.
