# PaymentInstructions

> Where to send an entity's money

Payment instructions are the bank details an [entity](https://docs.nova.net/types/entity.md) is paid
to. One entity can have several.

## Creating

`POST /v1/payment_instructions` creates instructions for one or more entities in a single call. Each item in an entity's `payment_instructions` array is one rail, chosen by `type`:

| `type` | Rail | Identifies the bank by |
| - | - | - |
| `ach` | US ACH | `routing_number` |
| `domestic_wire` | US wire | `routing_number` |
| `international_wire` | International wire | `swift_code` |

Wires also need the beneficiary's `address`, and can include an intermediary
bank. PO box addresses are accepted, but are treated as not yet valid.

## Reading

`GET /v1/payment_instructions/{id}` returns `ach` and `wire` as separate
blocks, because one set of instructions can carry both rails. Either block is
omitted when that rail isn't set up.

Full account numbers are never returned, only `account_number_last_four`.
Beneficiary addresses and free-text wire instructions are not returned either.
